With her personal highlights so this year, such as being hand-picked by Snoop Dogg to join him onstage at the YouTube Brandcast in May 2013 Niykee is able to maintain a steady songwriting routine despite the hectic recent times. She is now a magnet for aspiring producers, she regularly combs through beats that are sent to her and realizes that most result in sparking ideas for songs. "I'll be able to discern within the first 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. Once I've an idea in my head I'll begin writing right away." When I sit at my front porch, playing guitar, the lyrics just appear and usually are done in less than 30 minutes. Niykee says that when she develops as a lyricist, the painful memories of her childhood are an source of inspiration. It's hard to avoid the painful memories from my childhood, and especially losing my younger sister. These memories are incorporated in her music. My songs are formed by this and I feel the deeper meaning underneath every single thing. That's one of the aspects that are most significant to me.
